Our Spring Meeting at West Sussex GC was attended by 22 players for the morning Stableford round for the Gibbs Cup . Despite the very dry spell of weather ,the course was in immaculate condition and scoring was competitive. The winner of the Gibbs Cup with 37 points off a handicap of 25 was Mark Ashdown. The Runner Up prize was won by Ed Fairfax after a 6 hole countback from Jeremy Waud and Rob McCowen, all on 34 points. The scratch prize was won by Tom Fairfax with a score of 74 playing off a course handicap of 3. The Presidents Tankard for the best over 60’s score was won by Jeremy Waud with a score of 34 points after a countback over Rob McCowen. The guest prize went to Tristan scoring 37 points off a handicap of 8.

After a very enjoyable roast lunch washed down by wine in the Keith Jenkin jug, 10 pairs competed in the afternoon foursomes for the Petherbridge Bowl. This was won by Rob Huxford and Robert Benjamin with 35 points playing off handicaps of 4 and 22, after a countback over Patrick McGahan and Alex Fleet.
We were very pleased to welcome two new members of the Society to the Spring Meeting, Robert Benjamin and David Gibson and for Roger Goodacre and Christian Wimshurst to join us for lunch, the latter recovering from a leg injury and off golf for several months.
The 2027 date of the Spring Meeting at West Sussex G.C. is Wednesday the 5th May.
